My Social Stories Book is an all-new collection of social stories for young children with an autistic spectrum disorder. The book is organised into three chapters, Taking Care of Me, Home, and Going Places. The stories within each chapter cover topics that are frequently encountered in early childhood, for example, in the chapter Taking Care of Me the stories describe daily routines such as toileting, taking medicine and brushing teeth. My Social Stories Book introduces Social Story Sets, a new format specifically developed for young children with ASD. A Social Story Set is a collection of very short stories related to one topic that share a single illustration. Each story within a set describes one small part of a skill or concept. Each Social Story opens with an introductory story and many Social Story Sets have a concluding story that further reinforces how the details described in the stories ‘work together’. The illustrations depict the relationship between the stories, providing a picture of their collective ‘gist’.
