Asperger Syndrome, The Universe and Everything

Kenneth Hall, author. Publisher - www.jkp.com

Kenneth lives in Northern Ireland and was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at the age of eight. His biography was written two years later, and he describes his qualities and challenges. His insights are remarkable. I like being different. I prefer having AS to being normal. I don’t have the foggiest idea exactly what it is like about AS. I think that people with AS see things differently. I also think they see them more clearly.

He has a bright character in terms of intelligence and personality. He also has a sense of humour and originality in creating jokes and puns. He writes about how he feels about being different, and the positive effects of having a diagnosis. People have treated me better since we found out about my AS. Some of my difficulties have made me stronger and wiser.

He provides his personal perspective on strategies that have helped him, in particular Applied Behaviour Analysis, and programs to help him manage his anger. He also describes his profile of cognitive skills, sensory perception and how he copes with mistakes, hand writing and being organised. He also explains his thoughts on the value of home schooling. As Kenneth says - A good thing about the book is that it might help people with AS about ideas about how to work on their difficulties.

I would suggest that his book clearly does help people with Asperger’s Syndrome.
