Taylor Made Games

www.oceansofemotions.com - An exciting new venture is Elana Taylor’s game to encourage children and adolescents with Asperger’s syndrome to develop their social and emotional skills.

She has just launched Oceans of Emotions, a company that is producing a series of games and resource material for families, teachers and therapists. Her first product is based on a traditional board game with dice and cards but the questions, answers and subsequent discussion between the players are designed to explore specific aspects of social cognition and empathy with topics such as sibling rivalry, peer pressure, anger and anxiety. The questions are based on Elana’s experience as a therapist working with individuals and groups with Asperger’s Syndrome and High Functioning Autism in Los Angeles.

When ordering a game, a questionnaire is completed to select questions that are “Taylor Made” for the person with Asperger’s Syndrome. I found the game to be enjoyable, entertaining and thought provoking. I am currently working with Elana on the design, development and evaluation of new activities and resource material for Taylor Made games.
