The Things that People Say: What on earth could they mean. A teaching aid to understanding euphemisms, clichés and metaphors for those who take their world too seriously

Tracey Bester, author. Published by Learning Curve, email: besters@tpg.com.au

The Things that People Say helps those with Asperger’s Syndrome understand euphemisms, clichés, metaphors, sarcasm etc. The flipbook enables the child to determine what somebody could be thinking, when making comments that could be confusing and the ability to make their own original sayings. The explanations are similar to Social Stories and Tracey has been engaged in a great deal of preparatory work to enable this new teaching aid to succeed in helping the child understand some of the most puzzling aspects of our language.
