The Spirit Symphony

The Spirit Symphony, composed By Raymond Thompson and Performed by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. In April, New Zealand witnessed the world-wide premier of Raymond Thompson's Spirit Symphony. Raymond has Asperger's Syndrome and uses the symphony to express how this has affected his life. The Spirit Symphony is very emotional and moving music that reflects the highs and lows we all go through in our lives. Raymond has explained that: "I would hope that one is able to 'hear' Asperger's Syndrome in the music". The loneliness and despair at times. The confusion and frustration along with the often quirky and eccentric aspects as one struggles to make sense of ones environment and ones life". The composer would also hope that within the movements there is a light that shines and brings joy and hope as well as triumph. Copies of the CD containing the full sixty-minute symphony are available from Cloud 9 Children's Foundation with the proceedings going to the foundation.
